RHODESIAN RIDGEBACKS RE-HOMED IN 2017

Below are brief details of Rhodesian Ridgebacks re-homed during 2017. We would like to offer our deepest thanks to all of their new owners for giving these boys and girls another chance.

These are the lucky ones but some are left behind; still seeking those special people to offer them another chance.

Could you be one of the special ones? If you think you could be please go to the Re-Homing Page for further details.

 Thank You.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks Re-Homed in 2017
Ellie - Has been re-homed by Battersea!
Age 6 Years and 7 Months

Ellie is not strictly one of ours to re-home, she is currently at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Information on Ellie can be found by clicking here.

Do you have a comfy corner just waiting to be filled by this girl?

1st November 2017

If you think Ellie would fit in with you please contact Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Luna - Has found her new home!
Age 5 Years
Female

Luna has lived with children and a Jack Russell male all her life. Unfortunatly she and the Jack Russell have had a grumble at each other and now she needs a new home.

She does suffer with seperation anxiety and will bark if left alone. We feel that re-homing with a male ridgeback or other large breed male would help with her confidence when they have to be left alone.

Archie - Has found his new home!
Age 5 Years
Male

Archie is a bit stand offish when it comes to meeting new people, "aloof" you might say. We have no evidence that he would harm other animals but he will bark at them, it's probably best that he doesn't go where there are small furries.

Archie has never lived with children and so would need an adults only home. He pulls on the lead, which will require work and patence to correct. All in all Archie would best be placed with a very experienced Ridgeback owner, where he would receive the guidence that he needs.

Do you fit Archie's bill?

Kai - Has found her new home!
Age 4 Years
Female

Having lived in their new home quite happily together for a month, the two girls Kamba & Kai, who originaly came to us, with little information, from a national animal welfare organisation, have had a falling out! Kai is now back with us for re-homing.

She needs a home where she will be the only dog, and without young children or small animals. It turns out that she is not 100% house trained and will need some work with that.

Can you help Kai?

Sid - Has found his new home!
Age Aproximately 2 1/2 Years
Male

Sidney is a very special dog and needs a very special home!  He was placed in our care by people who had rescued him from an advert on Gumtree.  We don’t know a lot about him but he is about 2.5 years old and at some point between leaving his litter mates and being rescued he sustained an injury to his skull and a later injury to his ear but we still think he is handsome chap!

We know that Sidney has a few health issues and we cannot be sure if these are related to his injuries but he does suffer from epilepsy, so he is takes daily medication.  Assistance may be available for vet bills related to his known health conditions.

Sidney has spent time in a foster home and lived with other dogs but does struggle in a busy home, especially after he has a fit.  He is currently in our kennels and having watched him we feel that he is now ready for a quite home without too much going on where he would be an only dog.  He is a typical Ridgeback boy and likes cuddles, comfy beds and his food but he also needs to know the boundaries because he is still a teenager, who doesn’t always like to listen.  He is a very loveable goofball with lots of character and we want to find him the right home where he will be loved and understood.

If you think you might be the person to help Sidney please call our Rescue Co-Ordinator, Janice, (T: 01889 508295) to find out more.

Kamba and Kai - Have found their new home!
Age 4 Years
Females

Kamba and Kai came to us from another rescue organization who were unable to provide any information about them at all. They had not been doing very well, possibly because they had been kennelled seperately.

Since they have been with us they have been housed together, settled down and appear to be really nice girls. Bearing this in mind, they must be re-homed together. As this is all that we know about them, we cannot re-home them where there are children.

Can you offer these girls a place in your life?

Max and Junior - Have found their new home!

Max - Currently in Kennels
Age 7 Years
Male

We are told that Max is good with children and has lived with small children. He is fine with other animals. He will bark at visitors to the house but no more than that but has no problem with people outside the home. He does need to be walked using a head collar since he is inlined to pull otherwise. Max is a lovely affectionate boy who loves attention.

Junior - Currently in Kennels
Age 5 Years
Male

We are informed that while Junior is good with children he knows, he is wary of others. He is wary of other animals and will try to avoid them. He will bark at visitors and people he doesn't know and can chew if left for an extended period. His recall will need working on since when off lead he will not come back. Junior is a loving, cheeky and playful boy who loves affection.

Do you have the time and experience for these boys?

Two girls that urgently require re-homing together,
Have found their new home!

Girl 1
Age 4 years
Female - Spayed

We are told that she is very good with children, visitors, and  strangers don't bother her.  She is a little scared/wary if dogs come running up to her. She will chase cats  and squirrels if not watched. She has a soft and gentle nature and is a lovely girl.

Girl 2
Age 9 years
Female - Spayed

We are told that she is very good with children, visitors, and  strangers don't bother her. She is excellent with other animals and dogs whilst outdoors. She is a very calm girl, who sings for her food!

They sound a gentle pair, are you in a position to give them their new home together?

Sewe - Has been withdrawn by her current owners.
Age 6 Years
Female

We are informed that Sewe is a gentle girl loving affection. She is good with dogs and other animals, although she and sister Zola are having a few grumbles at one another. Because of this it is best they are re-homed separately. (Update February 2017 - Zola has found her new home, Sewe is still seeking hers)

While wary of visitors to the house she is OK with strangers outdoors.

She has no experience of children, accordingly we will not re-home her with young families.

Can you offer Sewe a child free home?

Chase - Has found his new home!
Age 6 Years
Male

Poor Chase, is fretting in our kennels and needs a really special home.

He seems to be pretty much perfect as long as he has other dogs to live with and children, who he adores. However, he does suffer with seperation anxiety and is destructive when left alone.

If you can offer a home where someone is always around, have dogs and children, Chase would probably think he's found paradise.

Could Chase be for you?

Diesel - Has found her new home!
Age 9 Years
Female

While you would no longer expect her to run a marathon, Diesel is still  quite spritely and enjoys her walks. She came to us with some lumps and bumps but apparently a vet has declared them nothing to be concerned about, which is often the case with an older dog.

She seems to be a very sweet girl although can be aloof. She knows some basic commands and responds well to food treats.

She will probably do best as an only dog or possibly with a quiet and relaxed male. Since she has no experience of living with children, she would best be re-homed in an adults only household.

Can you offer Diesel a cosy corner?

Gatsby - Has found his new home!
Age 8 Years
Male

We are informed that Gatsby is a very friendly and loveable chap. While he has never lived with children, when out and about he is apparently fine with them. He has lived with a cat and a dog but doesn't like little dogs.

He sounds a nice lad but due to the fact that during his eight years he has not experienced living with children, we think he would best be re-homed in a home free of small children, although older children should be fine.

Does our Gatsby sound good to you?

Ruby - Has found her new home!
Age 5 Years
Female

We are informed that Ruby is gentle, loving, affectionate and playful girl. She has lived with a young child and is good with other children. She can be wary of new people and a little unsettled in new environments. She is good with other dogs.

She must be re-homed where there are no sheep, cows or horses, as she will chase all of them. It would probably be safe to conclude that she would also chase cats and other small furries.

Can you off Ruby a stock free corner?
